Guided by the principle “How you want to be treated. ”, we provide comprehensive maternity and neonatal services for both low-risk and high-risk mothers-to-be and newborns. The Maternity Centre at St.
Paul’s Hospital boasts the province’s only cardiac and renal obstetrical programs, supporting pregnant women with cardiac or renal issues. We are a Level 3 maternity centre, which means we can support some of the most complex pregnancies and mothers with existing medical problems. We also operate a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( NICU ), level 2A, for babies who require intensive nursing observation and care and have in-house obstetric and anaesthesia coverage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of our labour, delivery and postpartum ( LDRP ) rooms are private rooms. We offer a relaxing, personal and non-institutional environment for birthing and postpartum care all in one room. All our rooms have Jacuzzi tubs, televisions and telephones, as well as a sleeper chair for significant others.
Our family-centred approach means that a partner or support person is encouraged to stay with the mother and baby to provide support through their hospital stay. We have enhanced our meal services in our Maternity unit to increase quality and comfort when dining. Our daily service includes a meal hostess that delivers continental breakfast and soup/sandwich style lunch from room to room, via a portable food cart. Dinner is served from our standard menu with hot entrée options.
